Barr Thelma Iremiren
Barr Thelma Iremiren OON MFR retired from the Federal Civil Service in December 2006 having served as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministries of Finance, National Planning Commission and Internal Affairs now known as the Ministry of Interior. She was the first woman to be appointed as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance a post hitherto monopolized by men. As Permanent Secretary in the National Planning Commission, she was the Secretary to the National Economic Council, a Council constituted by Governors with the Vice President as Chairman.
In June 2010, she was appointed a National Electoral Commissioner of Independent National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Her tenure ended in June 2015. She is a recipient of two National Honours of MFR and OON. She holds two degrees, B.S.c (Hons) Sociology and LLB. She is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
